Norris Leads Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from Piastri by one point after his victory in Mexico City recently, outpaced the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, was classified in 17th position as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, though minor, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to avoid just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the practice, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner before the final bend on to the main straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were significantly quicker of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs off Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
